Community Meditation: Bearing Witness

Friday the 13th has historically been framed as a day to tread carefully, marked by superstition and avoidance.

In older contemplative traditions, the number thirteen heralds return from descent to completion, a moment in time when that which has been pushed aside rises into awareness.

This gathering offers a practice of bearing witness in breath-centric meditation , where the emphasis is on learning how to stay present with suffering rather than turning away or seeking transcendence.

We will apply guided breath and awareness to practice receiving and responding with clarity and steadiness. This is a structured session to cultivate grounded compassion and embodied presence.

The practice is offered by donation in the spirit of dāna, an ethic of generosity that supports accessibility, reciprocity, and respect for the teachings themselves. No one is turned away.

Friday the 13th invites us to witness what we are usually taught to avoid. Together, lets meet that invitation with collective intention.

Donations of $10–$30 are warmly appreciated. Please reserve your space in advance.
